Alpha Omega

Color: a blend of dark ink and coffee with hints of crimson and brick on the rim. On the Nose: very expressive fresh fruit like black cherry, cassis and jam with wood, pepper and cinnamon balanced with coconut, milk chocolate, vanilla flower and violet. On the Palate: sweet attack turning into a festival of jams of blackberry and raspberry balanced with fresh oranges, tobacco and orange chocolate.

Wine Enthusiast

Structure defines this wine. It has a great architecture of tannins, acids and oak, with a firm, dry finish. That stands it in stark relief to today’s modern cult style of fruity softness, and to the wine’s credit. It’s Bordeaux-like, with cherry, currant, herb and cedar flavors, and should develop over the next decade. A winery to watch.

Score: 92. —Steve Heimoff, June 01, 2008.

Wine Spectator

Refreshingly complex, intense and fleshy, with a full-bodied array of dried currant, plum, black cherry and wild berry. Holds its focus on the long, full finish. Well-structured, with firm, fine-grained tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Drink now through 2015.

Score: 90. —James Laube, February 28, 2009.
