Ardbeg Distillery
Close to the ancient Kildalton Cross, the white-washed, wave-washed buildings of Ardbeg lie on the dramatic, rugged southerly shores of Islay. Their brightness belies their chequered past, when the doors seemed closed for good. Now, fresh Ardbeg is once again flowing freely, still using the Distillery's own private water supply which runs down over the peat and rocks from Loch Uigeadail. Ardbeg is one of the most welcoming distilleries to visit. In the old malt buildings and kiln, you can warm up with a dram and lots of home-made cooking and baking. You can also pick up a bottle or two from The Old Kiln Shop, and meet the folk that run the Distillery. Visitor opening times: September-May, open Monday to Friday, 10am-4pm. June-August, open 7 days a week, 10am-5pm. Pre-booking for tours is advisable. Please note that the Distillery closes during the Christmas holiday period Visit the Ardbeg Distillery website.
